Writing Guidelines
preliminary
The Journal of Agri Sains (ISSN 2581-0227; http://ojs.umb-bungo.ac.id/index.php/JAS/index) is a journal published by the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Muara Bungo University. JAS publishes original research results, theses, theses, and review articles in the socio-economic field of agriculture and agribusiness. JAS also accepts external scientific work as long as it meets the criteria for this publication. Authors are expected to send their written works that have never been published. The scope of JAS covers the agribusiness sector but is not limited to the following fields: business development, community development and development, agribusiness cooperatives, and computerization and multimedia in agriculture
Articles published in the journal Agri Sains are articles that have been reviewed by Mitra Bebestari (peer-reviewers). Starting in 2017, the journal Agri Sains only accepts articles originating from original research results (top priority), and new scientific review articles (not priority) (Bekker et al., 1999; Bezuidenhout et al., 2009). The decision of whether or not to accept a scientific article in this journal is the right of the Editorial Board based on the recommendation of Mitra Bebestari (Bhaktavatsalam and Choudhury, 1995).
Writing Title, Author Name, and Address
The article title is written in Indonesian and English, the author's name (without an academic degree), and the author's affiliation address is written in the center of the first page under the article title. The distance between the lines between the title and the author's name is 1 space, while the distance between the author's affiliation address and the abstract title is 1 space. Keywords must be written below the abstract text for each language, arranged in alphabetical order and separated by a semicolon with 3-5 words.
The Responsible Author or Corresponding Author must be marked with an asterisk followed by a comma "*)" as in the example above. At the bottom of the left column of the first page/abstract, the sign of the Responsible Author or Corresponding Author must be written and the email address (see example) should be written. Communication regarding article revisions and final decisions will only be communicated via email to the Correspondence Author.
If the author is more than one, write the names of the authors separated by a comma (,). If the author's name consists of two words, the first name should not be abbreviated. If the author's name consists of only one word, write the actual name in one word, however in the online version (HTML) it will be written in two words containing the same (repeated) name for metadata indexation purposes (Camdali and Tunc, 2006; Fridman, 2008).
General Guidelines for Manuscript Writing
Manuscripts that comply with the Agricultural journal writing guidelines (in MS Word format, use this article template) must be submitted in one of the following ways:
Submission of manuscripts via E-mail to the Editorial email of the Journal of Agri Sains (ojsumb101016@gmail.com)
Manuscript submission using the Online Submission System on the E-Journal Agri Sain's portal (HTTP: // ojs.umb-bungo.ac.id/index.php/JAS/index) after registering as an author and/or reviewer in the “Register” section.
Instructions for submitting manuscripts online can be seen in the Submit Online Instructions section below. Manuscripts that do not comply with the instructions for writing an agricultural journal will be returned to the author first before continuing the review process.
The written manuscript must contain the following components of a scientific article (subtitles in order), namely: (a) Article Title, (b) Author's Name (without title), (c) Author Affiliation Address, (d) Abstract and Words Keys, (e) Introduction, (f) Materials and Methods, (g) Results and Discussion, (h) Conclusions, (i) Acknowledgments (if any), and (j) Bibliography.
Writing subtitles in the contents of the article (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusions) without being given a serial number in a numeric format. The subtitles are written in bold with the Title Case format and are aligned to the left without an underline. Sub-subtitles are written in bold with the Sentence case format and are aligned to the left
Manuscripts can be written in Indonesian, especially for abstracts in two languages, namely Indonesian and English, with a maximum number of pages of 15 pages including figures and tables. Manuscripts must be written according to this article template in Camera-ready form. Articles must be written in A4 (210 x 297 mm) in the format of the left margin of 4 cm, right margin of 3 cm, bottom margin of 3 cm, and top margin of 3 cm. Manuscripts must be written in Times New Roman font with a font size of 12 pt. One space apart, and in two-column format (except for the article title, author name, and abstract). The distance between the columns is 1 cm.
Foreign words or terms are used in italics (Italic). We recommend that you avoid using foreign terms for articles in Indonesian. New paragraphs start 1 cm from the left boundary, while between paragraphs are not spaced between. All numbers are written in Arabic numerals, except at the beginning of the sentence.
Tables and Figures are placed in the text group after the tables or figures are referenced. Each picture must be given a figure caption below the image and numbered in Arabic numerals followed by the image title. Each table must be given a table title (Table Caption) and numbered in Arabic numerals above the table followed by the table title. Images must be guaranteed to be printed clearly (font size, resolution, and line size must be sure to print clearly). Figures and tables and diagrams/schemes should be placed in the column between groups of text or if they are too large, placed in the center of the page. Tables should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed but only the essentials.
Special Instructions for Writing Manuscript Contents
Article Title: Article title must be written briefly and clearly, and must indicate exactly the problem to be raised, not allowing various interpretations, written entirely in capital letters symmetrically. The article title should not contain uncommon abbreviated words. State the main idea of the news article first, followed by any other explanations.
Introduction: The introduction must contain (in order) a general background, a review of previous literature (state of the art) as the basis for a statement of scientific novelty from the article, a statement of scientific novelty, and a research problem or hypothesis. At the end of the introduction, the purpose of the article is to be written. In the scientific article format, there is no literature review as in research reports, but it is manifested in the form of a previous literature review (state of the art) to show the scientific novelty of the article.
Research Methods: the research method used in solving problems including the method of analysis. Image captions are placed as part of the figure caption, not as part of the image. The methods used in completing the research are listed in this section.
Results and Discussion: Results and discussion contain the results of research findings and their scientific discussion. Write down scientific findings (scientific findings) obtained from the results of research that has been carried out but must be supported by adequate data. The scientific findings referred to here are not the research data obtained. Scientific findings must be explained scientifically include: Are scientific findings obtained? Why did that happen? Why is the trend variable like that? All these questions must be explained scientifically, not only descriptively if necessary supported by adequate scientific basis phenomena. It should also be explained how the comparison with the results of other researchers on a similar topic should be explained. Research results and findings must be able to answer the research hypothesis in the introduction.
Conclusion: Conclusion describes the answer to the hypothesis and/or research objectives or scientific findings obtained. The conclusion does not contain an iteration of the results and discussion, but rather a summary of the findings as expected in the goal or hypothesis. If necessary, at the end of the conclusion can also be written about the things that will be done concerning further ideas from the research.
Acknowledgments (If Required): Acknowledgments are primarily addressed to research funders or donors. Acknowledgments can also be conveyed to those who helped carry out the research.
Bibliography: All references referred to in the text of the article must be listed in the Bibliography section. The bibliography must contain references derived from primary sources (scientific journals and a minimum of 80% of the total bibliography) published in the last 15 (ten) years. Each article contains at least 8 (eight) bibliography of references. Writing reference systems in the text of the article and writing a bibliography should use a reference management application program for example Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero, or others.
Guidelines for Writing Equations: Each equation is centered on the column and is numbered in parentheses and placed at the end of the right margin. Equations must be written using the Equation Editor in MS Word or Open Office (Primack, 1983).
Guidelines for Writing Citation / Reference in Article Text
Every time taking data or quoting statements from other libraries, the author must write down the reference source. Reference or citation is written in the description/text using the author's name and year (Irwan and Salim, 1998). If there are more than two authors, only the first author's name is written followed by "et al" or "et al." (Bezuidenhout et al., 2009; Roeva, 2012). Everything that is referred to in the text must be listed in the Bibliography section, and vice versa, everything that is written in the Bibliography must be referred to in the text (Wang et al., 2011).
Bibliography Writing Guide
The bibliography should use a reference management application such as Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero, or others. The writing format used in the journal Agri Sains is in the APA 6th Edition (American Psychological Association) format.
