Strategi Pakan Inovatif dalam Mengungkap Potensi Kelahiran Kembar Sapi Bali sebagai Solusi Ekonomi dan Produksi Nasional
Abstract
Ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap impor daging sapi dan sapi bakalan masih tinggi, yang menghambat pencapaian Program Swasembada Daging Sapi Nasional. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, peternak di Nusa Tenggara Barat melaporkan kejadian alami kelahiran kembar pada sapi Bali, yang secara biologis merupakan spesies uniparous. Fenomena ini membuka peluang untuk meningkatkan populasi dan produktivitas sapi potong, namun data ilmiah mengenai dampaknya terhadap performa induk dan anak masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap potensi kelahiran kembar alami pada sapi Bali melalui pendekatan strategi pakan inovatif dan manajemen reproduksi yang tepat. Penelitian dilaksanakan di tiga kabupaten di Pulau Lombok, yaitu Lombok Tengah, Lombok Barat, dan Lombok Utara, dengan total 80 ekor sapi Bali yang terbagi dalam empat kelompok: induk beranak kembar (BK), anak kembar (AK), induk beranak tunggal (BT), dan anak tunggal (AT). Selama enam bulan, variabel yang diamati meliputi konsumsi pakan, bobot badan, dan kadar hormon FSH dan LH dalam darah. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi nutrien induk sapi masih di bawah kebutuhan optimal, dengan protein kasar 9,2% (BK) dan 9,0% (BT), serta TDN sekitar 55%. Induk BK mengalami penurunan bobot badan signifikan (P<0,01), namun menunjukkan peningkatan kadar hormon FSH (0,46±0,08 mIU/mL) dan LH (0,13±0,12 mIU/mL) dibandingkan BT (FSH = 0,38±0,06; LH = 0,12±0,09). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelahiran kembar pada sapi Bali berpotensi meningkatkan efisiensi reproduksi induk dan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai salah satu strategi inovatif untuk meningkatkan pendapatan peternak serta mendukung swasembada daging nasional.
